It boasts among the most beautiful foliage of all conifers. Its bronzy red-brown bark contrasts the blue-green needles beautifully as well. The tree matures into a rather tall, narrow pyramid. Tiny scale-like needles weep downward from this tree's branches. Crush the needles to release a delicious aroma. Although the branches tend to grow upward, the long, pendulous and flattened branchlet sprays give the plant a softer habit. Small reddish brown cones are produced annually. Grow the Kashmir cypress in a sunny to lightly shaded exposure. Full sun ensures the fullest tree growth and uniformity. Any average to well-drained soil suffices. Although tolerant of drought, this cypress species prospers when given regular water, especially in summertime.
