Description: Andrew Loomis was "revered among artists for his mastery of drawing." His book was first published in the USA and Canada in 1939, and there have been many subsequent editions including in 2013. It is a highly regarded instruction book for cartooning and drawing, including the principles of light, shadow, and perspective, all presented in an entertaining and easy to follow manner. This vintage book is the 12th edition from 1946. It is solid and the binding is tight. The front and back tan cloth covers are in good vintage condition, with normal signs of wear as expected with a well-used 77 year old book. There are corner bumps, especially on the top corners, and the covers have stains. The top and bottom end caps of the spine are worn and there is a piece missing from the top cap (see photos). The embossed red lettering on the spine has faded a bit. There is a penciled-in price and a pasted-in bookseller's label on the front end-papers. There are 120 pages of text and illustrations, and none are torn, loose, or missing. The pages have yellowed slightly with age, especially on the edges, and a few have minor stains but I did not see any inscriptions, scribbles, or unwanted marks. I have tried to accurately describe and clearly show all blemishes in the pictures, which are considered to be part of the description. The book measures 31 cm. x 23.3 cm. (12-1/4 in. x 9-1/16 in.).
