Description: Vintage Haile Selassie Lion of Judah Ethiopian Rasta Coins Necklace These coins feature on one side, Haile Selassie bust and year 1936 of the Ethiopian calendar in Ge'ez script (digits 10, 9, 100, 30, 6).Haile Selassie was crowned Emperor on November 2, 1930 with the titles "King of Kings", "Lord of Lords", "Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah", "Elect of God". He took his regnal name - Haile Selassie, which translates to "Power of the Trinity". The other side features the Crowned Lion of Judah holding a ribboned cross and the denomination followed by santeem.The Lion of Judah is the symbol of the Hebrew tribe of Judah. According to the Torah, the tribe consists of the descendants of Judah, the fourth son of Jacob. The association between the Judah and the Lion, can first be found in the blessing given by Jacob to his son Judah in the Book of Genesis. The Lion of Judah is also mentioned in the Book of Revelation, as a term representing Jesus, according to Christian theology. The Lion of Judah was not only one of the titles of the Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie, but was also depicted of the flag of Ethiopia from 1897 - 1974. Due to its association with Selassie, it continues to be an important symbol among members of the Rastafari movement. The larger coin is 10 Santeem and the smaller is 5 Santeem.The shortest strand measures 18" and the longer 22" and has a button hole type closure.The chains are made up of tiny, smaller than seed bead, silvertone metal beads and 10 larger silver beads, not including the largest bead that is part of the button hole closure.
