Description: Vinegar eels are an excellent food source for the smallest of fish. Many fry aren't yet able to fit brine shrimp in their mouths yet, so a smaller food source is needed. A culture of vinegar eels can easily be maintained for when your fish need them! You will receive a sealed package of live vinegar eels to start the culture. The heat sealed foil pack won't be able to leak out in transit and can easily be ripped open. The culture will be shipped in an envelope using USPS First Class Mail to keep shipping costs at a minimum. How to start a vinegar eel culture Materials Needed:- Glass bottle with long neck (wine bottle or similar)- Apple cider vinegar (half the volume of the bottle)- Fresh apple- Clean, room temperature water- Paper towel/coffee filter- Rubber band- Filter floss Instructions**:1. Cut the apple into skinny slices that fit into the bottle. Add 4-8 slices.2. Fill the bottle half way with apple cider vinegar.3. Add clean water up to the bottom of the bottle's neck.4. Tear off a corner of the vinegar eel package and squeeze out contents into the bottle. 5. Use the rubber band and paper towel or coffee filter to cover the bottle to seal out bugs, while letting air in. 6. Wait a few weeks for the population to grow.7. When ready to harvest, remove the covering and push a wad of filter floss about half way into the bottle neck.8. Use clean water to slowly fill the bottle all the way up to the brim. The vinegar will stay below the floss leaving fresh water on top. The eels will swim through the floss within the next day and stay in the fresh water above, ready to harvest. Use a small pipette to suck out the vinegar eels and deposit them into the aquarium to feed the fish. Gently pour fresh water back into the bottle to replace what has been taken. A new culture should be started after about six months, once the apples have been broken down.
