Description: From our personal collection, we are very pleased to be able to offer this extremely rare Loetz Austrian Art Nouveau tall Art Nouveau enameled vase. Loetz made very few glass pieces with enameled floriform designs. This unusually tall vase with its four stylized Irises is a standout piece. The vase has a bulbous base that sits in a silvered mount comprising a sequence of seven flowers running around the top of the mount. There would have originally been eight but as can be seen in the photos at some time in the past 100 years one has been lost. This is the major flaw. The rim was originally gilded on the top but most of the gilding has now been rubbed off. The enameled irises are in wonderful condition. The glass has a frosted finish and it is our belief that it is in original condition. It appears to be some form of Clutha like glass. The silver plating appears to be in good condition and comes up to a nice bright finish. The vase is signed on bottom with "WMF" followed by what we believe to be the running ostrich mark and the letter "B" (for Britannia metal). Following that are the letters "I/O" for standard thickness of silver plating.
