Includes both in-text illustrations and black and white plates. All plates counted as present. Pages remain clear with minimal tanning and foxing. End papers are more notably tanned. Slight damp staining to margins throughout. Plates are bright and clear. Previous owner's inscription to front free end-paper. Heavy cracking to binding behind the frontispiece, with exposed netting. Front board feels loose. Some occasional moderate to heavy cracking to gutters throughout, binding is shaky. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Moderate crushing to spine ends, with splitting, fraying and loss to the head, tail. Cloth has moderate damp and dust stains. Spine cloth is marked or dulled with dust. Gilt lettering has become dull. This book has been inspected carefully by hand by trained book valuers to ensure the condition description is as accurate as possible for this exact copy pictured.
