Description: Rare book from 1816 with 190 pages and 47 engravings. There is wear to the leather covers as you can see in pics. Splitting between boards and spine which is pretty serious on the front board, just at top and bottom on back board. I’ve tried to photograph this accurately, but if you have any questions , please ask. The pages remain tightly bound and the boards remain securely attached. Some marks on pages and a couple of dog ears on pages. This edition was printed in New York unlike the slightly earlier and later editions which were printed in England. Measures 2 x 2.5 inches. Taken from elsewhere on the internet : “This edition carries twice the number of pages of its 1814 & 1818 counterparts printed by the children's publishers Darton in London, these 2 editions seem to have 90 pages only but having the 47 woodcuts (This copy the plate leaves are part of the pagination and therefore count as pages and some have printing on their reverse sides, others are plain backed), perhaps the BL cataloguing has counted the plate pages separately? However that would only count as 90+47. There are 4-5 copies of both the 1814 and later edition of 1818 located in the Bodleian and the British Library in total but no copies located of this American edition in the UK, nor any copies located for sale in the USA or in any of the main collections as far as we could ascertain”
