Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a lovely matched pair of Britannia Silver (95.84/1000 silver) cafe au lait pots made by Heming & Co., 1935. One pot is for holding black coffee and the other is for holding milk. The pots are presented in a Georgian style in heavy Britannia Standard Silver which has a higher silver content than Sterling Silver (.925/1000). The handles are scroll shaped in solid wood with light color stain. The pots have dome shaped hinged lids with tight hinges with the tops opening and closing correctly. There is a turned wood and silver finial on top. The pot is marked with English Britannia Silver hallmarks with date letter for 1935 and have maker's stamp for Heming & Co. Ltd. The base is also stamped "Heming & Co., Conduit St., London". Both pots are in very good to excellent Estate condition with no major flaws and reflecting only minimal signs of normal wear including a couple of faint dings on the lower body (see photos). Coffee Pot measures 8 3/8" high, 8 1/4" wide (handle to spout) with a 3" diameter base. Weighs 675 grams. The milk pot measures 6 1/4" high, 6 1/2" wide (handle to spout) with a 3" diameter base.
