Description: PAIR EARLY 19th CENTURY WHALE OIL FLUID LAMPS HEAVY MUSHROOM STAR BASE PEWTER BU Click images to enlarge Description PAIR EARLY 19th CENTURY WHALE OIL FLUID LAMPS HEAVY MUSHROOM STAR BASE PEWTER BURNERS Here offered is a late 18th or early 19th century pair of Flint Glass? Whale Oil Fluid Lamps. These are hand blown and blown in mold glass. Made in two pieces with the base attached to the six sided font. The base has a star topped mushroom push up in the base. The square bases show very heavy wear to the bottoms. The collars are pewter as are the burners (different as shown) These are very heavy for the size. I do not know the maker or the pattern?? These lamps are in very nice condition for the age. the glass is clear with a few inclusions (soda ash??), some swirling and tiny bubbles to the bases and some straw marks. The fonts and columns are chip and crack free. There are a few small chips on the square bases along with one chipped top corner as shown. These are 7 3/8" to the top of the pewter collars, 3" square on the bases and with a 2 1/2" diameter six sided font.
