Description: Welcome! Original vintage wall clock Prim. Beautiful and timeless design of Czechoslovak wooden clock Prim. Designed by anonymous artist, approx. around 1970s. Clock is originally intended as a wall clock but it could be also used placed on the bottom side as a table clock. Total measurements: approx. 24x18x3,5cm weight approx. 400g (without battery) Condition report: clock is overall in decent condition, shows expected age and some minor damages, overall the clock is solid and stable Note: clock looks to be functional. We put a battery in it and it worked. However, as this clock is old and clock itself is a specific device, we cannot guarantee functionality and we recommend to new owner service it by specialist. Due to safety reasons clock will be shipped without battery. Historical context: Prim is a Czechoslovak or better Czech brand of a watch manufacturer. In 1949, a branch plant of Chronotechna Sternberk was founded in Nove Mesto nad Metuji, which was supposed to specialize in the production of personal watches (wrist and pocket watches). The first watch prototypes were produced in 1954 and bore the name Spartak, the PRIM brand was only registered in 1956, and since 1957, when series production began, it has been consistently used.In 1969, the manufacturer gained independence from the parent company Chronotechna and began using the name ELTON. The Prim brand is currently used by two watch manufacturers, ELTON from Nove Mesto nad Metuji and MPM-Quality from Frydek-Mistek. To date, over 16,000,000 watches have been produced under the PRIM brand. In 2008, a special exhibition dedicated to the production of the watch brand (from the beginning to 1994) was opened in the Nove Mesto nad Metuji Municipal Museum. The owners of PRIM watches from ELTON include, among others, President Vaclav Klaus, footballer Petr Cech, actor Alain Delon, Olympic winner Jaroslav Kulhavy, opera singer Adam Plachetka, tennis player Barbora Strycova and a number of other Czech social, cultural and scientific scene. PRIM watches from ELTON are among the official gifts of the Czech Government Office or the Office of the President to foreign visitors (Wiki).
