Description: Selling this original, super rare, highly sought after 1966 Beatles Butcher cover + LP + LP sleeve which was banned because of its controversial cover. (Historical background: The Beatles were upset that Capitol Records in the US was putting their singles on the albums and mixing the songs up, and also making "best of" albums of their music. The Beatles felt Capitol was "butchering" their music, so they created this disturbing cover. Due to public outrage, it was immediately banned and recalled.) This is known to be the holy grail of music collectors. This is a "3rd state" Butcher, meaning it had been recalled by Capitol Records in 1966 to have the "Steamer Trunk" sticker attached to it, resold to the public, and then the purchaser peeled off the sticker. The Butcher cover is in pretty good condition (whomever did the peel back in '66 did a halfway decent job), the LP is in near mint condition, and the sleeve is in very good condition. Honestly, this is a must-have for the serious Beatles collector! The album cover has been in a custom wall frame (in a dark room with little sunlight), the LP & sleeve have been in a separate professional thick plastic sleeve backed with cardboard to protect them, and these have been in an exceptionally clean/non-smoking/dry house. I’m selling this for $1500 or best offer. Will ship via UPS and packaged extremely carefully & safely.
