Original 1924 LOUIS ICART 'Fallen Nest' SIGNED Color Etching

Description: ORIGINAL 1924 LOUIS ICART (1888-1950) 'FALLEN NEST' SIGNED COLOR ETCHING This is a wonderful original. This is one of those prints I am proud to have saved. When I acquired this print it had the original matte that was covered in stains in the original frame. I took it out of the frame and it turned out the matte was mostly glued down over the print. I thought that was the death blow for the print but I was able to remove the matte. As you can see in the pictures, the margins are covered in the original glue with some other staining. There is some remnants of the back of the original matte as well. The print is also dry mounted to a backing. Unfortunately, there is also a small tear and loss of the paper in the lower center margin. All of this sounds a lot worse than it is because, I went out and had a new archival matte cut perfectly to cover all that up and reveal just the wonderful image and the small margins around the image with the original pencil signature. The image itself is really wonderful. There is some consistent toning to the image but it is a rich impression with wonderful strong original hand coloring. The vines above still are purple, her hat ribbon still a rich blue and even her lips are still the original shade of red. Really presents beautifully. Signed lower right and pencil numbered lower left faintly. Original publication information along the top edge of the image. In the original gold frame that is very complimentary and ready to hang. Really displays beautifully. Frame measures 22 3/4 x 26 3/4 inches. Do your research on this wonderful original Icart. It does not come to market very often.
