Description: RARE PROTOTYPE LIGHTOLIER GERALD THURSTON CHARLES EAMES BENT WALNUT PLYWOOD MODERN CASE STUDY HOME SCONCE WALL LAMP 1950'S DESIGN: An impressive and visually striking sculptural molded Walnut Plywood & Brass wall lamp designed by Gerald Thurston and manufactured by Lightolier lighting circa mid 1950's. The elegantly arched molded plywood body was created in the same manner as Charles Eames' iconic plywood chairs of the same era and was created to echo his design aesthetic. The backlit design casts most of the ambient light indirectly against the wall while also leaking a halo-like glow through the narrow "mail slot" opening behind the center Brass bar. This incredibly rare model is believed to be a prototype developed for installation in experimental (at the time) Mid Century Modern Case Study Homes. Original Lightolier logo is still fully intact on original power cord plug. Due to the extremely rare nature of this unique molded plywood design this model is rarely scene, added the incredible condition of this specimen and your likely to never see one like this again! CONDITION: This rare & unique Thurston Lightolier design lamp is in excellent original condition as it does not appear to have been used or exposed for a very long period of time. Just light signs of use with no damage or blemishes aside from a small corner area that appears to have a repaired ply chip...extremely well manicured and I did not even notice it until I was taking the pics. Original wiring and double socket has been inspected and tested and appears to be clean, safe and fully operational.DIMENSIONS: This exceptionally rare lamps' general dimensions are 20" long with a general width of 5.5" to the wood, the general depth is 4"…bulbs are NOT included.
