Jesse James was perhaps the most notorious outlaw in the Old West. This is a reprint of a controversial biography of Jesse James first published the month after James' murder in 1882. The book was somewhat favorable to James and unfavorable to the authorities. The author was apparently assisted by James' widow and his mother, but even this is under some question. It is known, however, that this book was "lost' for many years and apparently it was supressed because it cast a shadow over Missouri's Governor Crittendon. But, you can judge all that for yourself in a book first published over 125 years ago and out of print until 1970. There is only some very minor edge wear on the DJ, but this book is still in EXCELLENT condition. No collection of items on Jesse James or the history of the Old West is complete without this outstanding book. Check out the scan for the great cover and so you can judge the condition for yourself (unlike many other booksellers, who post generic scans, the book in my scan is the one you will get).
