Description: "A Sketch for a VICE Roy-- The Royal Jasey!!" is a 1797 hand-colored etching by Isaac Cruikshank (1756-1810) British satirist. Cruikshank initialed it within the plate in the lower left--see photo #3. This etching was printed on watermarked laid paper--see photos # 8,9. At some point, it was trimmed within the plate. It suffered some losses to the corners as well as to the upper right inside the print--see photos # 3,5,6. It also has foxing--notably on the face--see photo#7 as well as in other places--see photos #5,6. Finally, at some point, it was laid to paper to stabilize the print. This specific print was part of the collection of a known NYC artist, collector and print-seller. It was also, apparently, part of a collection by "Renier" as written on the verso. It was purchased at auction. CONDITION: Print is in fair to good shape with toning, foxing, small losses at the corners as well as in the upper right interior of the print. It is also cropped very close and at times inside the margins. Finally, it is also laid to paper. Please see all photos. DIMENSIONS: PLATE: 9 3/4" x 13 7/8"PAPER: 11 1/8" x 15"
