Description: TWO BRASS TAGS FROM INSPIRATION,ARIZONA ONE IS : INTERNATIONAL SMELTING COMPANY (I.S.C)ONE IS: INTERNATIONAL SMELTING AND REFINING COMPANY(I.S.&R.CO.) TWO FOR ONE MONEY. PRICE IS FOR BOTH TAGS. AS SEEN.BOTH ARE @ 1 3/8 "X 1 5/8" HOLED AS SEEN tags were commercially manufactured BUT appear to have been number stamped after purchase.In 1910 the Mexican revolution access to the smelter in Mexico where Arizona mines had been sending their ore to get smelted was stopped and in 1913 work began on a new smelter called International Smelting Company,Anaconda Copper Company bought full ownership of I.S.C. in 1914International Smelting and Refining Company was re-founded in Montana after the purchase.(WIKIPEDIA)so based on this informationthe I.S.C. TAGS would have been issued @1913? when work began building smelter.and no doubt continued in use after re founding name change?and I.S.R.CO. TAGS could have been issued no earlier than @1914?The town of Inspiration Arizona is no longer. due to expansion of the open pit mine then called Inspiration Copper CompanyThere is a new smelter on the same location as original . Later mine ID (ICCO) Inspiration Copper Company were used by employees as identification, and the number was used at the company store to purchase goods and bill was deducted from employee's salary.
