Description: HTF VTG Homer Laughlin Century Tea Cup & Saucer Platinum Lines & Verge Edge C-90 Hard to find Art deco at its finest with this beautiful Republic Shape tea cup and saucer set with wild yellow roses and orange roses . This is the epitome of Art Deco Style, Simple Elegance, and highly desirable. We do combine shipping if purchasing more than one item of anything in the store! The Republic shape was introduced in 1915. In one advertisement it was offered as a shape that, "... has been produced in obedience to popular demand. Excepting the hollowware, we do not claim it for any degree of originality." As many as a dozen American pottery companies produced shapes similar to Republic. Prior to the late 1920s, it was common for potteries to purchase molds from suppliers instead of creating their own designs. It was typical of dinnerware made in the early 1900s to have very extensive assortments. Republic was made up of sixty-four items. As the years went on, most of these pieces were discontinued. One of the earliest treatments on Republic is a simple 18 karat gold decoration on the embossing and rim. However, most pieces are found with floral decals. Condition: Very good vintage condition. No chips or cracks. Some subtle under the glaze crazing, typical of vintage pottery. Pieces may have other small minor factory production flaws present such as glaze skips, sand bumps, glaze pops, etc. Little to no handling use wear on decal or pieces.
