Type: Mist Marble, German Handmade Antique.This most unusual and refined type of marble were handmade made by craftsmen in German glass factories between 1880-1920. Finished with a pontil, they usually have an open, light-filled character that is unrivalled in delicacy - a veil of submarine sparkling colour was produced by the addition of fine lines of powdered coloured glass to a clear base matrix; with additional layers of clear glass, and sometimes with overlaid bands. This creates a classic and desirable effect, making mist types amongst the most simplistic but lovely antique marbles - they maintain an elegant palette and styling by using a limited range of very subtle hues.
