Description: This is a rare May 19th, 1952 "Playgoer" playbill (with an original ticket stub and several newspaper clippings) from the one-week, Pre-Broadway engagement of the GEORGE S. KAUFMAN and KATHARINE DAYTON comedy "FIRST LADY" at the Gayety Theatre in Baltimore, Maryland. (The revival would open May 28th, 1952 at the New York City Center of Music and Drama in New York City and run for only five performances.) ..... The New York City Theatre revival starred HELEN GAHAGAN, ONA MUNSON, FREDERIC TOZERE, EDNA BEST, PEGGY ANN GARNER and SCOTT McKAY and the cast included GUY SPAULL, RUTH McDEVITT, ADDISON RICHARDS, MARGERY MAUDE, HOWARD WIERUM and REGINA WALLACE ..... DETAILS: The twelve page playbill measures 6 7/8" X 9 1/4" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes and bios of each of the leading actors, but no cast photos. Includes a ticket stub from the May 21st, 1952 evening performance. Also includes several newspaper clippings (last scanned image) including one that mentions that President and Mrs. HARRY S. TRUMAN attended the play and went backstage afterwards to greet the cast ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a paper clip indentation on the outside edge and light discoloration to some of the inside pages, this playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian.
