Description: For Sale: (1) Vintage 1930s E. Howard Quarter-Strike Tower Clock PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE PURCHASINGE. Howard catalogues from the late 1930s introduced several models of automated tower clocks. They were equipped with synchronous electric motors on each power train. These clocks have no pendulum, have fewers gears, and do not use weights and cables. This clock, serial #3464, has been meticulously cleaned, brass parts polished, and iron parts painted. A superstructure of wood with metal braces has been added to hold the components normally found in a clock tower and to allow this clock to perform all of its functions. Five beautiful Malmark hand-bells are activated by bell cranks and bell hammers. The 3-way splitter atop the clock is connected in the traditional manner to a hand-motion-works and a skeleton style clock dial with hand-crafted, balanced hands. The clock strikes the hour on the biggest bell and quarterly on the other four playing the Westminster chime. A bonus feature is the adjustable silencing mechanism allowing the user to select which hours the chime will be silent. Everything works with the precision expected with an E. Howard clock. The frame is 60" long, 80" tall and 34" wide. The clock is mounted on a custom dolly with locking castor wheels for easy movement. The superstructure can be easily separated from the dolly. Both parts will pass through a 36" doorway with ease.
