Description: Darklands - Warrior Garric, Jute Thain Summary: One unpainted miniature for Darklands or other fantasy games. Mierce Miniatures is a new company that produces extremely high quality polyurethane resin miniatures for the Darklands wargame, as well as the BaneLegions miniature range and the Templar's Forge hobby and accessories range. Darklands is a wargame set in a fantasy world not too different from our own. Beginning in the year AD 650, Darklands will combine various fantastical and historical elements found in northwest Europe in the so-called 'Dark Ages' in a wargame that will be intuitive, fresh and interesting. Much of its setting will be known to fantasy wargamers everywhere, and thus be very easily accessible. It also has the biggest gribblies you'll see in any 30mm wargame! Amongst those invited to defend Britannia in ages past by the Romanii were the Jutes, at first glance little different from the Anglecynn or Seaxans or Friesians that joined them in the time of Henghest and Horsa. Now, in this age of darkness, the corruption of the Jutes is of black renown, for their barrows unleash the dead that knew battle long ago and their hosts embrace shape-shifters of altogether different form, forms of the mounds and the tumuli, forms of the disturbed earth and the cracked rocks. Now, the Jutes have power, power to destroy and to conquer all those who abhor their black land, for even in death do they become stronger. The first kingdom of the Jutes, and the last remaining human kingdom, is that of Cant, a place of striking countryside and beautiful coastline beset by enemies on all sides; and yet its stronghold in Cantwarebarg - from which King Eorcenberht rules with an iron fist - is one of the strongest in Bryten. Eorcenberht knows that, in the power of the beetles and the strength of the Wihts, his kingdom will endure; but his problems are many, for the Jutes are few in number and they must defend long stretches of land to the west, land that both protects and leads to the great barrows of Wihtbarg. For without the Wihts, the Jutes cannot defend against the fanatical Seaxna - who consider the Wihts to be an abomination - and against the constant raiding of the Kernewek and the Franks and the Norse. Garric's life is devoted to the lord Eormanræd: to his honour, to his renown, to his campaigns. Garric bears his banner, fights for him, commands for him, for he is a noble in his own right, and so brings his warriors to battle whenever his lord wishes it. Yet his devotion is to a deeper cause, to the cause his lord embraces, to the survival of his people and their lands. For are not the Jutes the first who dared to sail, the first to believe in their right to abide, the first to make peace in the new lands, even in the face of such enmity? To some, the Jutes are an abomination. To Garric, the Jutes are the guarantee of a way of life the followers of the nailed god could not even hope to understand. Warrior with sword and shield.
