Description: Hand-Engraved Glock 19 Gen 3 Stainless Steel Slide At one point in my engraving career, I cut by hand dozens of stainless Glock slides, and this is one of only two that I’ve kept. I engraved this piece in 2021 for the FEGA show in Las Vegas, but unfortunately, the show was canceled. The following year, I brought it with me when I received the runner-up award for “Emerging New Artist.” When I received this stainless slide, the machining was complete, but the exterior was rough, with mill marks and sharp corners. I dedicated over 30 hours to flattening and squaring the outside surfaces, as well as beveling the corners. I chose to create flat bevels instead of the factory’s rounded style, and I’m proud to say the bevels turned out perfectly, symmetrical in size and angle. All done by hand with bastard files and sanding blocks. Hand engraving stainless steel is incredibly challenging, unlike laser engraving. But the difference in quality is night and day. When cutting by hand, you often spend just as much time sharpening broken gravers as you do cutting the metal, which is why most hand engravers refuse to work with it. Personally, I haven’t engraved stainless in years due to the headache it can cause. The scroll work is my original design done in the “German Black Leaf” style that has been used on high-end firearms for hundreds of years. It’s a style that is elevated above the average “American” scroll.Custom site plane from front to back. Approximately .005 in removed and then stippled. Aesthetic and functional detail. For this project, I experimented with a method to slightly blacken the stainless, resulting in a finish that is somewhat similar to “French Grey,” yet distinct. I grew tired of the typical bead-blasted or shiny polished finishes usually used on stainless, and I found this new look uniquely appealing. It gives the slide a rough, well-used appearance, even though it is polished to perfection. If this finish isn’t to your taste, it can easily be polished off. This is exceptional work, which is why I’ve held onto it for so long. While I’ll be sad to see this slide go, the reality is that I’m a starving artist, not a discerning collector. Key Features: Unique finish for stainless steel Custom site plane Hand-engraved scrollwork in the “German Black Leaf” design Full slide assembly built with all OEM Glock parts (except sights and barrel) Aftermarket stainless steel barrel, traditional land and groove, with the same finish as the slide Tri-glow sights Signed and marked “1 of 1” To educate those unaware of the difference, laser engraving is a fast, precise, and automated process, but hand engraving emphasizes craftsmanship and artistry. A laser-engraved slide takes less than an hour to complete, often resulting in multiple copies. In contrast, this hand-engraved slide took over 130 hours to cut, not including days of initial design time and a full day to apply the finish. The design is crucial, even more important than being able to cut the metal; I’ve spent nearly a decade studying every type of scroll design, particularly American scroll. Most laser jobs are executed by those lacking this experience, and it shows. This hand-engraved slide is the real deal, offered at a substantial discount. Don’t miss your chance to own a piece of artistry that exemplifies the highest level of craftsmanship!
