Classic Squire “Standard Series” Fat Strat Electric Guitar

Description: 2000 Squire Standard Series “Fat Strat” Stratocaster in excellent condition. Metallic black. The Standard Series guitars are the best bang-for-the-buck for a quality Strat or Tele. Standard Series guitars are equipped with the same Alnico single coil pickups found in a base model MIM Strat of the time. Also solid wood construction. In the case of the Fat Strat, the humbucker appears to be ceramic. This particular guitar is a 2000 Made in China. In 2001 Standard series Squire’s moved to Indonesia. One difference is the China models came with ceramic single coils. I replaced them with vintage output (5.5k) Alnico pickups. I also installed what is known as the “Gilmore Mod”. A mini switch, when activated, turns on the neck pickup in positions 1&2 adding a bridge/neck and “all 3 on“ options. Also, the bridge pickup is wired to the first tone knob for tone control. The 2 main differences between the Fender and the Squire are body width and the tremolo, both weight savings for shipping. That’s why PacRim Squire’s are a little bit thinner. It’s also why they come with the thin zinc block. I recommend upgrading to a full thickness block for increased sustain.
