"My dear friend": Moore sends the letter, hand delivered by Private George L Troutt a "trustworthy"soldier, who he hopes will be given light hospital work in the Hospital and encourages him to "endure that which cannot be cured" ( Troutt was an old soldier, age 42 on enlistment in 1862).
