Description: Volume Descriptions: George F. Warner, Asst. Keeper of Manuscripts in British Museum, Universal Classic Manuscripts. “Fac-Similes from the Originals in the Department of Manuscripts, British Museum of Royal, Historic and Diplomatic Documents, Letters and Autographs of Kings, Queens, Princes, Statesmen, Generals, Authors, Etc. With Descriptions, Editorial Notes, References, and Translations. Special Introduction by S. M. Hamilton, editor, “Letters to Washington.” Washington and London: M. Walter Dunne, n.d., but circa 1900. Unpaginated. Two Volumes. Folio. 11" x 17 5/8". The first covers manuscripts from Henry V to Queen Anne, the Second from Defoe to Queen Victoria. The set appears to be an amalgam of two separate editions. The first is from the “Autograph Edition de-Luxe” and is an unnumbered volume signed by Oliver H. Leigh, Editorial Director. Gilt title on gray boards. Scuffing to cover but well-bound and clean pages. The second volume was issued without index. Paper label on flexible red covers. Both covers detached. The complete set of two, even in married form, is rare because many of these volumes have been split apart with individual pages selling separately. Heavy nature of set will require additional postage.
