Athearn #1308 50' Double Door Boxcar NS Norfolk & Southern #1314 HO!

Description: You are bidding on a hardly used HO scale Athearn, part #1308, 50' double door boxcar kit, decorated for the early Norfolk & Southern (NS) with road #1314. This is part of Athearns classic "blue box" line of kits which were made from the 70's - 90's in Compton, California, USA. This design is not from the current Norfolk & Southern, but the scheme used by another railroad that was also named Norfolk & Southern (ironically the same reporting marks of NS) that merged with the Southern Railroad (SOU) back in the 70's. The current Norfolk & Southern was made between a merger between Southern Railroad & the Norfolk & Western (NW) in the 1980's. There's your railroad history lesson for today folks. Boxcar is hardly used, with little to no wear on wheels. It is painted in NS gray with black & red lettering. Is equipped with friction bearing trucks, moveable doors that slide open or close & hand brake wheel. Box has normal shelf wear, but is in overall good shape. Fully assembled with no broken stirrups or other damage other than normal use (which was minimal). Includes complete car w/original box & a duplicate copy of the instructions (original was missing but I happen to have a copy on PDF so I printed & included a copy for your reference).
