Description: Very Rare Early A&W Root Beer Mug. ( A&W First Mug) Made with Manganese Dioxide Glass. This is a very early mug possible made in 1919-1920. The purple color glass (Manangese Glass) was used from the late 1800s to about 1915. You do see the glass still used into the early 20s. A&W started using mugs in about 1919. The glass this mug was molded from would have been older glass the factory had left over. Mug measures 4 1/4 inches tall. One flea bite chip on the lip seen in the last photo.
