Description: This great antique Northern Plains Chippewa Indian basket features porcupine quill on birch bark decoration on the lid of the sweetgrass woven body of the piece. The exterior of this fine basket is in great condition but the interior lining of the sides of the bottom has dried out and deteriorated (see photos). When the lid is in place, this issue is almost invisible. The basket is 5" in diameter and is 4" tall. The basket comes with an old note identifying it and describing its materials. I believe it to date to early in the 20th century. Stock number SA2D-368
