Description: Exceptional 19th century hand-painted urn or vase by Coalport, c. 1861-75. One side features hand-painted hens and rooster with landscape surrounded by a gilt scrolled and floral cartouche, the other side, two ducks, one mallard stands by a log with the female flying overhead, and a pink bird standing along the water's edge. The urn has two embossed gilt handles on white ground with ribbed neck and foot with pale pink accents. The base is painted with Coalport's gilt ampersand mark used between 1861-1875. Measures 7 1/2" high x approx 4" handle to handle x 3 1/2" wide and is in Excellent condition free of nicks or fleabites, note the underside of the urn, where it would be bolted appears to have been overpainted, though there does not seem to be any sort of repair- possibly something to secure the two connected pieces, please see all photos.
