Description: Note: Please study the images carefully to determine the condition of this vintage photograph, as it may not be in perfect condition. It may contain wrinkles, cracks, and possibly even tears due to its age and how it was handled before it got to us. A scanner may interpret colors and contrast differently than human eyes will, so it is possible that the actual photograph may be slightly darker or lighter in person. This is an original press photo. New York: Step In 'Instant' Slum Rehabilitation-Wooden panel covers hole ripped into roof of slum tenement on New York's East 5th Street today as it was prepared for "instant rehabilitation." Plan, which eventually, say the engineers, will take only two days to finish a job, is to rip out the insides of the building, and then lower packaged, complete apartments into place. The first building will take several months because the engineers want to iron out "bugs" and make complete reports. The second building should be smoother and faster and the third should be completed in the specified 48 hours. Buildings-U.S.-New YorkPhoto measures 8 x 10.25inches. Photo is dated 04-19-1966.
