The 222K Free-Arm Featherweight is considered one of the most highly collectible and desirable Singer Sewing Machines. Approximately 100,000 222K Featherweights were made worldwide and are one of the best sewing machines ever made. Sometimes referred to as the "Free-Arm Featherweight" The 222K Free-Arm Singer Featherweight is by far the best machine when it comes to practicality and usefulness. The 222K Featherweight can sew numerous types of garments, alterations, repairs, quilt tops, and more. It sews the basic straight stitch for piecing any quilt top, yet easily converts to the free-arm to sew baby dresses, sleeves, odd-shaped seams and curvatures. Having the feed dogs out of the way makes darning repairs convenient and free motion quilting a real treat! May I introduce you to Samantha. She was born March 15, 1960 (Serial number ER024519). Samantha is special as she has the ability to have her bed removed with loosening 1 screw. She has a graduated throat plate which can be extremely helpful when sewing. Samantha can also lower her feed dogs to allow free-arm. She also has a special Red S badge which was only given to featherweights from 1959 to 1961. (please look at the pictures as they are part of the description). Samantha is ready to work right away as she has a 110V motor. Samantha is 64 years old. She still works well and overall is in amazing condition. Her bed is in good shape for her age. The finish on Samantha is in wonderful condition with a bright shine and only a few scratches. The decorative decal border around the base of Samantha is in good condition. Samantha has been cleaned, serviced, polished and tested. Her belt (super belt), light (LED), felt pad, protective silicon button, bed cushions and red spool pin cover are all new. Samantha has had the motor pulley removed to check for thread, the rotary hook assembly and balanced wheel have also been checked for any thread. Samantha's foot pedal has been inspected, cleaned and new cushion put on. The electrical cord on Samantha's foot pedal is in great condition. She still has the original Bakelite plug. Bakelite plugs are getting harder to get with featherweights. Her bobbin case has been set to 23g. A new Schmetz microtex needle has been put in Samantha. I have included a sample stitch that was done on Samantha before I listed her. Samantha's house (the case) is in wonderful condition for 64 years old. The case latches and hinges have been polished to a nice shine. Both latches work. The case comes with an oil can holder and key to lock everything up. As with any case that is 64 years old there are some dings but the case is solid. The featherweight comes with: a pristine reproduction owner’s manual, 5 bobbins (inside the attachment box), an original bobbin case, an original pressor foot, a narrow hemmer, a ruffler, an edge stitcher, a bias binder multi slotted with guide pins, a bias binder cuter, an adjustable hemmer, a tucker, a narrow zipper foot, a wide zipper foot, a gathering foot (AKA shirring foot), a seam guide, a seam guide nut, a measuring guide, a magnetic seam guide, 20 microfiber cleaning brushes, thread snips, a key for the case, a vintage Singer screwdriver a featherweight attachment bag, a vintage Singer oil can (for display only as I would not use the old oil) and a featherweight charm/zipper pull. I wrap the featherweight, any attachment box and foot pedal in packing cellophane then put bubble wrap inside the case. I then wrapped the case in cellophane. This way there is less chance of the finish being marred during shipping. I put inflatable air tubes around the case to cushion the featherweight while it is shipped. I take the spool pin cover off and put a piece of cardboard to cover the opening. I wrap the spool pin cover in cellophane and bubble wrap. I then put the spool pin cover in the case. This way there is less chance of it breaking during shipping. I write this so you have an idea of how I ship so you do not worry about the featherweight while it is coming to you.
