Description: This is a photo copy of a photo of my Grandfather who worked many odd jobs in his life. As shown in the photo, he sat in front of the SERVICE Chevrolet dealership in Ada, Oklahoma all day long to advertise the coming 1956 Chevy. Also included is a copy of a newspaper article of him and the upcoming 1956 Chevy. No online ads in those days and they had to use some visuals to draw folks attention. He always wore those coveralls, as it was the dress of the day for older Okies. In fact , he was buried in them. When he was at the dealership, he was in the town square at the "spit and whittling club" telling stories. You will have to be older to understand it!!! Just a fun photo and article to have for all you 1956 Chevy collectors, and who knows, maybe your 1956 Chevy came from the dealership! It is one of a kind of photo. Thanks for looking. Now there is more to this story. After selling a photo to a very kind buyer, he sent me this info in my feedback. " Thank you for the copy of the newspaper clipping. It was a pleasant surprise! It may interest you to know that photograph or one very similar was used in a Chevrolet promotional catalog, "Hit with Impact". That catalog which came out much earlier than just a few days before November 4 was to show how Chevrolet Dealerships could get their buildings ready for opening day." It appears to me the SERVICE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP took the suggestion of the catalog and stage a like scene in from of their dealership. They then hired my grandpa to sit and be the live prop in the scene. So that is not only the rest of the story, but actually the beginning of the story!! Makes me wonder how many dealerships acted upon the suggestion? Are there other like photos from them??
