The painting depicts two large groups of people opposed to each other. On one side are the victors. On the other, the vanquished. The images of the Soviet soldiers depicted in the foreground are individual. In the column of the vanquished, only one soldier stands out, looking with regret at the banners lying in the dust at the feet of the victors and trampled by the hoof of a horse. In contrast to the defeated and humiliated symbols of the Kwantung Army, the peaks of the red Soviet banners - symbols of Victory, are proudly raised up.
