It was a luxury book in 1899. The publication date 1899 is found on the title page. CONDITION: This antique book is complete and intact, in very good condition as evidenced by the photos. The front cover has great graphics. The covers are in good condition with some edge and corner wear. The inside covers and endpapers are illustrated with a nice pattern. The inside covers are in very good condition with very light cracking / separation at the hinges. Both boards are firmly attached to the binding. The only writing present is the author's signature on the front endpaper. The pages are in good to very good condition, pages are crisp with no foxing. The pages have a gold gilt on all edges. The spine is in very good condition with light shelf wear, the gold gilt lettering is easily read. This is a clean book that was gently handled down through the years.
