Description: Card mounted photograph (5” by 5”) of a young man seated in the grass at the side of a street in Middletown, New York, circa 1890s to 1900s. The unidentified view shows a young man seated in the grass by the side of a brick store building with signs on it that read, in part, Equitable Life, …B. Wilbur, Agt., and Bull & Youngblood, Staple…Flour. The firm of Bull & Youngblood ran a grocery store at 37 North Street in Middletown, New York, in the late 19th century and early 20th century. I believe that’s the location of this scene. The photograph is in only good condition with light wear and soiling. Note the damage at the top left corner, as well as the rubbing and bumping at the corners. The photograph exhibits good or better tonal range and shows good or better detail. There’s a minor blemish in the photo by the man’s leg. A nice Middletown NY image!
